This two-day in-person class explores the key elements of demand response including the market and regulatory environments; business drivers; market potential; program design; and economic analysis. Program implementation discussions include the tactics and methodologies used to improve program success through organizational and resourcing strategies; contracting; business processes; technology integration; and measurement & verification.

Interactive and break-out group exercises, plus coaching and commentary from our class mentors, will enable participants to gain hands-on experience with various aspects of the subject matter.

Topics include:

  • Demand Response overview, drivers, and program types
  • Demand Response and Distributed Energy Resource Market potential
  • Portfolio development for electric and gas: size and timing; grid services; non-wires alternatives; group exercise
  • Program design for electric and gas: target markets, technologies, incentives, and budgets
  • Cost-effectiveness assessment: cost, benefits, standard tests, issues and decisions; group exercise
  • Program implementation strategies and tactics: staffing; marketing (assessment, branding, recruitment); group exercise;
  • Program Management: data, customer experience, technology, communications, performance
  • Evaluation, Measurement and Verification: data, impacts, design improvements
  • Class Exam
  • Mentor-facilitated Round Table discussion
