The Evolution of Demand Response to Distributed Energy Resources
presented in Brooklyn, NY adjacent to the 50th PLMA Conference Monday, November 11, 2024; 8:30 am - 4:30 pm ET (Breakfast will be served from 7:30 - 8:30 am)
This one-day interactive class explains how today’s demand response initiatives are evolving to interact with distributed energy resources for flexible load management, and much more.
Class Learning Objectives:
- Articulate a common language for describing the evolution of DR as seen through the eyes of industry leaders,
- Explain the current market principles and the technologies enabling demand response initiatives today,
- Compare how DR programs perform relative to energy efficiency, thermal/battery storage, and renewable energy initiatives,
- Introduce portfolio design strategies and implementation tactics that address the fading boundary between bulk power exchange and retail electricity usage.
Class Materials
Once you've registered for this class, please use your PLMA login credentials to access the PLMA Load Management Resource Center, where you'll have access to the class materials, including:

Who Should Attend
This class is well-suited to new and transitioning utility and regulatory staff employees and to solution providers. It offers a breadth of knowledge on how to transition, reposition, or create customer programs based on demand response and distributed energy resources as a means to address peak electricity demand, mitigate high energy prices, and manage variable generation.
The class is open to all industry stakeholders, with significantly discounted rates available to PLMA member organizations and partners. To see who typically attends PLMA classes, please click here.
Continuing Education Credits
These courses may qualify for continuing education credits. PLMA can provide you with supporting documentation for follow up with your chosen accrediting organization. Please contact Judy Knight for additional information.
Course Materials
All class registrants will receive access to PLMA's class presentation materials on our Load Management Resource Center. In addition, you can request a PLMA Certificate of Completion at the close of this class.
