Manager, Products & Services – Residential DSM Programs, Duke Energy

Brian Lusher serves as the Manager of Duke Energy’s Residential Demand Response team in the Integrated Grid Strategy and Solutions organization. His team is responsible for developing, marketing and operating products that serve both our customers and the grid by providing load reductions when we they are most needed. The current portfolio of products includes smart thermostats, controllable water heaters, pool pumps and HVAC systems. Additionally, this team works closely with the Energy Control Center on when to call for Critical Peak days and Behavioral Demand Response events that encourage customers to conserve energy and reduce usage during peak times. Brian joined Duke Energy in 2017 and has held a series of engineering and project management roles. A native of Virginia, Brian earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech and later went on to complete a Masters in Business Administration at the University of South Carolina. Brian is a registered professional engineer in North Carolina.

Marwa Chowdhury (she/her), Central Hudson Gas & Electric, Oversees the strategy, design, implementation, and management of Non-Wire Alternatives, Non-Pipeline Alternatives, and Demand Response programs. She most recently supported standing up the utility's Residential Managed Charging Program. Marwa holds electrical engineering degrees from Binghamton University. She currently studies martial arts and the Spanish language in her free time.

Cory Scofield leads a small, but highly-effective and diverse DSM team consisting of members with backgrounds in Marketing, Business, Finance, and Engineering. The team collectively oversees the strategy, design, implementation, and management of all energy efficiency, non-wire alternatives, non-pipeline alternatives, demand response, and beneficial electrification programs. He has 5 years of DSM-related experience with Central Hudson and was previously with Alliance Berstein, an investment management firm, most recently as Vice President of Corporate Actions Operations. Cory holds a B.S. from Marist College in Business Administration, and volunteers with the United Way, Habitat for Humanity, and ASPCA.

Timothy Knief is an Energy Efficiency Consultant at Eversource on the Demand Response and EV charging team. Timothy leads the Commercial and Industrial ConnectedSolutions program across Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire responsible for 150 MW of reduction off the ISO-NE. Timothy also works with residential thermostat, EV/EVSE, and battery demand response programs with a focus on data analytics. Timothy holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a business minor from Wentworth Institute of Technology and close to completing a Master of Engineering in Power Systems from Worcester Polytechnical Institute.

Previously, while at ICF International, he co-founded a service offering focused on energy efficiency finance strategy. In 2010, he founded Race to Replace, a statewide clean energy-focused voter registration campaign in Vermont in partnership with League of Conservation Voters.

Ryan Long is President of Xcel Energy - Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota and is responsible for the strategic planning, financial results, and operational outcomes for the three states, leading teams focused on customer, community, regulatory, legislative, and governmental relationships.

Ryan joined Xcel Energy in 2015 and previously served as interim General Counsel, leading the legal department, and executing the company’s legal strategy. Prior to that role, he served as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel where he managed the Federal and State Regulatory, Environmental and Real Estate legal teams. Ryan previously worked as a lawyer for Faegre Baker Daniels, now known as Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath in Minneapolis and Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York City. He is a graduate of Grinnell College and Cornell Law School.

Ryan serves on the Board of Directors for the Guthrie Theater and for Project for Pride in Living, a Minneapolis-based nonprofit organization that provides transformative affordable housing and career readiness services for individuals and families with lower incomes.
