presented Monday, April 13, 2015; 12:30-1:30pm Eastern

Thank you for your interest in this Women in Demand Response update. . This will be a 1-hour conversation with a few Powerpoint slides.

Robin Maslowski of Navigant will facilitate a group discussion about Winter Demand Response initiatives. This dialogue is open to all PLMA members and nonmembers. The conversation will begin with brief snapshot presentations from these industry thought leaders:

Winter Demand Response Research Findings

Marie-Andrée Leduc
IREQ
Marie-Andrée Leduc

Marie-Andrée Leduc, IREQ is a researcher at Institut de recherche d’Hydro-Québec - IREQ since 2005. She has been involved in several energy management and alternative energy projects but her main area of interest is demand response. Her work in this field includes building simulation and experimental testing of demand response strategies and characterization of demand reduction at the individual customer and electric grid levels. She has a MS in Energy Science and Materials from INRS and a BIng in Mechanical Engineering from École Polytechnique de Montréal.

Peter Steele-Mosey
Navigant Consulting
Peter Steele-Mosey, Navigant Consulting

Peter Steele-Mosey, Navigant Consulting will focus on the findings of two winter residential direct load control evaluations: Puget Sound Energy’s Residential Direct Load Control Pilot and Duke Energy Progress’ EnergyWise Home Program. Each program will be briefly summarized, the estimated impacts presented and the most significant lessons learned discussed. Peter Steele-Mosey is a Managing Consultant with Navigant Consulting and is based in Toronto, Ontario.

Structuring Peak and Off-Peak rates for Demand Response

Elisabeth Morgera
National Grid
Elisabeth Morgera

Elisabeth Morgera, National Grid is a senior analyst and serves as the Demand Response Coordinator for the Smart Energy Solutions Program at National Grid. This program provides approximately 15,000 participating residential and small commercial customers in Worcester, Mass. near-real time energy usage, as well as opportunities to manage their energy usage and reduce their monthly bill. In this role, she is responsible for monitoring the ISO-NE energy markets to identify the need to call peak load events, initiate the necessary events, ensure all communication protocols are followed, monitor the event progression and then analyze and report on the events upon completion.

Winter Demand Response Drivers

Elizabeth Lewis
EnerNOC
Elizabeth Lewis

Elizabeth Lewis, EnerNOC will discuss some of the differences between managing demand response programs in the summer versus the winter, and how these differences are taken into account when assessing customer participation and portfolio strategy. Liz is the Data Analytics Team Lead at EnerNOC and has been involved with EnerNOC's participation in demand response since 2010, focusing mainly on measurement and verification and market strategy. Liz's team calculates performance for over 35 utility and grid operator DR programs worldwide and provides analysis supporting DR portfolio management, program design, financial reporting, and other strategic initiatives.
