Position Overview

Advanced Energy’s residential energy services includes SystemVision, an affordable program that has certified over 5,000 new homes, designed to be healthy, safe, durable, comfortable and energy efficient. This position will be responsible for inspecting homes at various stages in the construction process, conducting plan reviews, performing HVAC load calculations, communicating with builders and their subcontractors and providing other technical services in the energy field to utilities, federal and state agencies, and other customers. 

This position will also support other projects and teams for the residential market and potentially across the other markets. Our projects focus on developing and delivering programs for utilities that can deliver economic benefit to consumers and increase customer satisfaction and engagement. 

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Knowledge of residential buildings, building science, energy code, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, and/or distributed energy resource technologies 
  • Experience with field inspections, applied studies, and working with building trades/trade allies
  • Experience performing calculations or modeling for energy and demand measures such as Ekotrope, REMRate, BeOpt or other building software
  • Experience explaining and presenting technical content
  • Industry certification(s) through Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET), Building Performance Institute (BPI), Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), or equivalent

Position Overview

Coordinate and perform administrative support activities for assigned business unit(s) and/or team(s).

Essential Functions

Receptionist

  • Perform full-time front office duties, including welcoming visitors in a polite and friendly manner. Notify company personnel of guest arrival. 
  • Maintain a tidy reception area.
  • Answer calls via MS Teams. Provide general information to callers and/or route call to other personnel.
  • Maintain office security by following safety procedures and controlling access via the reception desk (monitor logbook, issue visitor badges).
  • Issue campus parking passes for visitors.
  • Maintain and update the visitor section on Intranet.
  • Receive, sort, and distribute daily USPS mail/packages and assist with FedEx shipping when needed.
  • Process postage for outgoing mail.
  • Manage inventory/order office supplies and keep kitchen areas tidy and stocked.
  • Set up, break down and organization of conference rooms.
  • Process incoming public consulting requests via Kintone database and assign to appropriate staff member.
  • Troubleshoot and remedy office equipment issues and provide support to staff.
  • Perform clerical duties such as scheduling, printing, filing, copying, scanning, and transcribing meeting minutes.
  • Help staff with laminating/spiral binding needs.
  • Monitor Administrative MS Teams channel for incoming electronic faxes for staff.
  • Assist Administrative Assistants with logistics for meetings/conferences/trainings. 
  • Miscellaneous tasks from Administrative Supervisor.

Position Overview

Provides basic engineering services in the energy field to utilities, industrial customers, commercial customers, institutions, federal and state agencies, and other customers. The Motors and Drives Co-op position is entry level and requires proficient skills in areas that use engineering judgement. Work products or processes will always have oversight from engineer or field technologist.

Essential Functions

Engineering Support

  • Provide hands on assistance in laboratory setting utilizing various hand tools and power tools.
  • Support product testing and safely operate laboratory dynamometers.
  • Schedule laboratory testing based on incoming shipments and coordinate outgoing shipments including proper packaging.
  • Support facility reviews and studies or site assessments to locate opportunities for improvements in productivity, quality and efficiency.
  • Adjust desk heights and rearrange office furniture.
  • Support quality control, recommend solutions, define and interpret the importance of the implementation of corrective measures.
  • Support design reviews including load calculations, energy performance analysis or design documentation.
  • Provide hands on assistance in deploying new technologies in the field.
  • Assist in coordinating applied research studies on a national basis, consulting with other organizations and experts.
  • Acquire data from field/lab instruments and process into useful information.

Position Overview

Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of projects to ensure that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished within time and funding parameters. Establish, track, and adhere to tasks, timelines, and budgets. Coordinate project logistics and resources. Research, summarize and write project reports. At Level III, the Project Manager is expected to independently manage larger and more complex projects and may serve as a lead and/or mentor to other staff; individual possesses subject matter expertise in assigned business area. Energy industry experience a plus (e.g., solar, electric transportation, energy efficiency, residential and/or commercial building systems, etc.).

Essential Functions

Project Management

  • Develop and refine scope of work taking into account the client's needs, budget and other resources.
  • Develop and implement project plans, including strategies, milestones and tasks.
  • Design and facilitate project meetings and record minutes and action plans.
  • Coordinate project logistics including meetings, conference calls, presentations, workshops, client visits, travel, and events associated with assigned projects.
  • Work with internal team and customer to define and update AE's role on projects.
  • Establish, document, track, and adhere to project timelines, budgets, and tasks.
  • Utilize applicable software applications to perform project management and scheduling tasks, and research issues with team members to resolve problems.
  • Prepare project budgets, analyze variances, and initiate corrective actions.
  • Develop technical tools and processes to more effectively complete tasks.
  • Provide timely reports to funding sources, team, management, and others internally or externally.
  • Assemble and manage the necessary work force to complete assigned activities.
  • Manage and coordinate contracts and scopes of work for subcontractors and other external contacts.
  • Analyze and create budget summaries and financial scenarios to improve project tracking and performance.
  • Continuously search and strive for process improvement strategies.
  • Coordinate and lead collaborative stakeholder initiatives, including development of work plans, effectively engaging volunteer stakeholders, meeting facilitation, and coordinating meetings and events.
