Oracle Energy and Water Job Opportunity: Regulatory Affairs and Market Development Manager - OpowerOracle

Oracle Energy and Water is seeking a Regulatory Affairs and Market Development individual for the West Coast to support utilities and develop business opportunities for Opower in the western United States. 

Opower, which became part of Oracle in 2016, is a customer engagement and energy optimization platform that ingests and analyzes utility meter data and surfaces that data in meaningful ways. A common theme across our suite of solutions is combining behavioral science principles with artificial intelligence to provide customers with personalized, actionable insights that drive outcomes related to energy efficiency, peak demand reduction, decarbonization, equity, customer satisfaction, and utility operations. Cumulatively, Opower has delivered 35 TWh of energy savings, including over 450M therms, resulting in over $3.6B in customer bill savings and over 17M metric tons of CO2 emissions avoided. The Opower Regulatory team works with utilities and engages closely with regulators, government officials, and industry stakeholders to remove obstacles and promote policies to advance the Opower business. You will be responsible for executing Oracle Energy and Water’s regulatory and policy strategy throughout an assigned territory of coverage in the region, using energy and climate policy and regulatory processes to support sales and advance the market for demand-side management (DSM) solutions. In this role, you will report to the Sr. Director of Regulatory Affairs and Market Development and work closely with team members from Sales, Service Delivery, and Analytics. This role will involve travel about 25% of the time and will be based in the western United States, either remotely or in a nearby Oracle office if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Defend and grow the market for behavior-based DSM solutions
  • Facilitate regulatory acceptance and promote regulatory-driven opportunities for Opower’s expansive suite of cloud-based SaaS solutions
  • Educate stakeholders on how the customer, utility, and societal benefits of Opower solutions address relevant energy and climate policy objectives and regulatory requirements
  • Effectively advance your regional goals, including helping the sales team meet or exceed their sales targets
  • Actively participate in cross-functional account teams serving existing utility clients in your region
  • Identify market developments and trends that may impact our business or clients and help inform investments in new and existing products
  • Serve as the trusted expert in your region who can identify what is most important to the business and provide insights to internal teams to maximize their effectiveness and success
  • Serve as a thought leader and expert resource for clients and other external stakeholders
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, including regulatory commissions, utility clients, state energy officials, ISO/RTOs, environmental groups, and consumer advocates
  • Manage and leverage the team’s industry association memberships in your region
  • Prepare effective comments reflecting Oracle’s position for inclusion in filings or other avenues
  • Be a public spokesperson for Opower in regulatory proceedings, industry associations, conferences, and other external meetings
  • Contribute to the effectiveness of the Opower Regulatory team through active participation, knowledge-sharing, coverage support, newsletter content, etc.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams as-assigned

Edo PUD Job Opportunity: Director of Utility ProgramsEdo

The Opportunity with Edo:

Edo is seeking a Director, Utility Programs to oversee the development and implementation of Edo’s growing business with utility clients, including the Spokane Connected Communities Project, a DOE-funded demand flexibility program with Avista. 

The Director, Utility Programs will be responsible for client management, building a team and developing staff, and overseeing the delivery of a portfolio of utility programs. The ideal candidate has background and experience in the following areas: leadership and management of utility energy efficiency or demand response programs, overseeing a portfolio of multi-year programs and projects with budgets greater than $10M, creative thinking and inventive problem solving with clients, and leading and inspiring a team of people. 

  • Provide leadership of Edo’s utility programs including strategy, implementation, and execution, as we continue to grow and mature our portfolio of utility programs.
  • Responsible for the successful operations delivery and implementation of the Spokane Connected Communities project, including:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact with Avista and DOE clients on program execution, project planning, contract and budgeting issues and other high level client management issues.
    • Main point of contact for subcontractors and key end-users participating in the program.
    • Facilitate the development of efficient processes for program performance; refine and document processes to ensure disciplined, measurable results against program targets.
    • Ensure that staff, partners, and subcontractors have sufficient capacity and resources to effectively implement project activities
    • Lead the project to ensure superior client service, delivery, and position for scale and growth.
    • Represent Edo and the Connected Communities Project at outside meetings, conferences and other client endorsed events.
  • Work closely with the Edo leadership team, including the R&D and Software Development teams, to define and refine the broader demand flexibility operational strategy to enable us to scale at a pace that ensures success.
  • Drive accountability to direct team members and cross-functional departments to streamline utility program delivery and implement best-in-class program portfolio management.
  • Balance being focused on short-term high-priority requirements and taking the time to develop strategic and longer-term thinking to grow Edo’s utility business.

Overview
The energy efficiency advisor designs and manages energy efficiency, demand side management and demand response programs for residential and/or commercial customers in the District's service territory. Develops and maintains relationships with both internal and external stakeholders in the political and environmental arena. Responsibilities

  • Performs analysis and research to recommend effective District energy efficiency measures, technologies and activities designed to meet regulatory and District objectives.
