Daily responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Respond to incoming calls and emails to Illinois Adjustable Block Program Consumer Complaint Center

  • Follow established SOPs for complaint resolution, including communicating directly with solar vendors and customers
  • Document statistics and contributing to disciplinary and complaint reporting
  • Perform periodic review of registered vendor marketing materials to ensure compliance with program guidelines
  • Provide educational materials related to consumer protection requirements and best practices for new vendors and vendor designees
  • Contribute to educational workshops on consumer protection topics such as marketing best practices and program requirements

What is a Residential Energy Efficiency Program Manager?

Central Hudson is at the forefront of advancing the adoption of Energy Efficiency and Electrification measures in its territory and plays a vital role in supporting New York State’s ambitious carbon emission reduction goals.  The Residential Energy Efficiency Program Manager designs, implements, and manages programs which incentivize and provide services to promote the adoption of energy efficiency measures to Central Hudson’s residential customers.  The position is highly collaborative; As a Program Manager on the Demand Side Management team, you’ll work with a number of departments within the Company, implementation contractors, evaluation consultants, other utilities, as well as the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), the Department of Public Service (DPS), and other key stakeholders. Title/level is commensurate with experience.

What does an Residential Energy Efficiency Program Manager do?

  • Responsible for implementation and operational oversight of energy efficiency programs and related initiatives 

  • Contribute to program design, analysis, tracking, management, forecasting, and evaluation

  • Manage third party professional service procurement, contract negotiations and relationships

  • Support the day-to-day relationship with external service providers, including: interpreting and adhering to established contractual agreements and/or service level agreements, managing vendor performance, and driving results in support of Company targets

  • Actively participate on and collaborate with New York State Department of Public Service and New York State Joint Utility working groups in support of statewide energy goals

  • Represent the company's position throughout the regulatory process, including the development of comments and filings, shareholder incentive filings, results reporting, participation in technical sessions and/or hearings, rate cases and preparing responses to information requests

  • Seek opportunities for continuous improvement of program architecture. Research new cost-effective measures and program enhancements to offer to customers

What is an Energy Policy & Regulation Director? 

The Energy Policy & Regulation team represents Central Hudson’s interests while navigating New York State’s fast-paced energy policy & regulatory environment. The team is responsible for identifying risks and opportunities associated with key regulatory developments, pursuing strategies that are beneficial to the Company and its customers, coordinating with technical experts, fostering awareness across the organization, and positional alignment across various proceedings. The team regularly reports to and interacts with the Company’s senior leadership team.

The Director’s primary areas of focus will include transmission development, wholesale market participation, statewide grid planning, clean energy transition efforts, utility-scale energy storage and various others. This work includes participation in various workstreams related to the NY PSC, NYISO, FERC, NY Transmission Owners, and Joint Utilities of New York.

What does an Energy Policy & Regulation Director do?

  • Identify, review, and develop positions regarding developments at the NYPSC and FERC that materially impact our New York and FERC Jurisdictional Businesses. This requires communication and cooperation with other utilities, attorneys, and internal departments’ subject matter experts

  • Identify key themes and potential impacts from emerging energy policy; provide regulatory analysis and assistance to other areas within the company (e.g. Engineering, Operations, Legal, Public Relations, and CH subsidiaries)

  • Prepare, maintain and submit written information on regulatory proceedings and external meetings in order to ensure internal stakeholders are kept up to date with relevant policies, processes and programs

  • Perform research on state and federal regulatory policies and filings in order to support the company’s position in its regulatory filings; work with internal business partners to translate their needs into regulatory strategy

  • Develop and implement studies to support regulatory, tariff, and pricing proposals in the context of filings, stakeholder presentations, and other regulatory proceedings

  • Develop and foster relationships with key internal and external stakeholders in order to obtain and share information that will benefit the company, share best practices, provide and obtain technical advice and build bases of influence

  • Stay current with regulatory developments and identify regulatory precedents, key regulatory themes and trends in order to ensure the best outcomes for Central Hudson

  • Build upon technical professional skills within the areas of Energy Policy and Regulation to improve your personal contribution to the business

  • Challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek improvement to drive greater efficiencies

  • Review and produce written material that clearly conveys the company’s position within regulatory filings
