Franklin Energy Announces Founder Paul Schueller Moving to Board of Directors, Industry Veteran Jim Madej New CEO

PORT WASHINGTON, Wis. – Franklin Energy and AM Conservation Group, the leading demand-side management firm in the utility industry, announced today the appointment of Jim Madej as the company’s new chief executive officer. Madej succeeds founder Paul Schueller, who has served as CEO since Franklin Energy’s inception in 1994 and recently announced his transition to the company’s board of directors.

Madej will guide the strategic direction and lead the executive teams of Franklin Energy and AM Conservation Group. With more than 30 years in the energy industry, Madej brings an extensive background in business transformation, operational leadership, energy efficiency and customer experience.

American Public Power Association (APPA) Seeking an Energy & Operations Services Assistant

The American Public Power Association is looking for an enthusiastic, organized and customer service-oriented person to assist in executing program and administrative functions for APPA’s Energy and Engineering programs including the Reliable Public Power Program (RP3), the eReliability Tracker Program, and more.

This person should be passionate about any of the following areas: efficiency, energy, electric utilities, systems and software use and development, and science. The ideal candidate for this position should have:

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Top notch organizational skills.
  • The desire to keep learning as a lot of new technologies would be learned.
  • Experience with energy, utilities, meetings, system walk throughs are a plus.

Some of the position’s responsibilities include:

  • Serving as a first point of contact for APPA members and nonmembers and ensuring a satisfactory outcome to their questions and comments.
  • Assisting with research on technical, regulatory, engineering, environmental, energy and related issues as needed.
  • Developing a thorough knowledge and understanding of APPA, its membership, the engineering services department activities and projects, and the role of APPA as a service organization.
  • Undertaking assignments as directed by the Vice President, Engineering Services.
  • Planning and executing relevant program meetings including, scheduling, arranging food, hotel needs, communications on the meetings, and agendas.
  • Working with the operations and engineering services team on development and implementation of programs in the Engineering Services Department such as the Engineering and Operations (E&O) Technical Conference, and others.

Elocity receives Canadian government technology funding to help power utilities manage impacts of increasing Electric Vehicle adoption

Elocity digitally transforms the journey to transportation electrification for electric utilities, cities and businesses. Elocity was founded by industry veteran Sanjeev Singh who has significant domain and technical expertise through working with electric utilities globally. Before starting Elocity, Sanjeev worked with Tech Mahindra, HCL and Wipro focusing on various smart metering and smart grid solutions. Elocity co-founder Dr. Arvind Kumar was previously the VP of Research and Development at Optym and is an expert in mathematical optimization.

Idaho Power Issues Request for Proposal for Electric Vehicle Demand Response Pilot

Idaho Power Company (“IPC”) is currently seeking proposals in response to this Request for Proposal (“RFP”) from Respondents offering implementation, training, documentation, support services, software and hardware (“Services”) necessary to administer and operate a potential pilot project offered to new and current residential Electric Vehicle (“EV”) owners in Idaho Power’s service area. If determined to be feasible, the proposed Pilot would operate over a two-year duration for approximately 200 EV owners. In year one, participants would be recruited, and data collected on charging habits. In year two, demand response events would be tested with additional data collected. In return for participating, customers would receive some form of credit, such as a bill credit or gift card.

This RFP process will be conducted via Idaho Power’s on-line bidding tool, Power Advocate.
