Gain key insights into National Grid's non-wires alternatives projects which are two of the 10 leading case studies featured in a research report funded by E4TheFuture at click here

Discover key considerations from two leading non-wires-alternatives (NWA) projects. The Tiverton Project helped defer the need for traditional electric grid infrastructure upgrades. This discussion will share insight regarding customer-driven load curtailment program focused on automated demand response (DR) utilizing a wide variety of DR and energy efficiency resources. The Old Forge project is focused on solving distribution grid constraints and providing grid resilience solutions with a battery energy storage system. Discover key takeaways and lessons learned from these National Grid projects implemented in remote areas involving local communities and unique strategies to develop solutions.

Damei Jack

Marie Schnitzer

National Grid

Marie is currently a lead project manager for National Grid.  She joined National Grid in 2018 as a Senior Project Manager responsible for developing Non-wires Alternative solutions to solve projected overload and/or reliability problems on distribution or transmission infrastructure. These projects directly support the objectives of New York State’s Reforming the Energy Vision with localized distributed energy resources like energy efficiency, demand response, energy storage, distributed generation, and other technologies.

Matt Chase

Matt Chase

National Grid

Matt Chase is an engineer, project, and program manager in the NWA Solutions team of Asset Management and Planning at National Grid. A lifelong Rhode Islander, Matt Chase graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2014 with a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, where he then entered the nuclear industry. After 2 years in the nuclear industry, Matt Chase joined National Grid in 2016 where he continues to develop his engineering expertise, handles engineering support for Rhode Island Volt/VAR Optimization, manages Rhode Island Non-Wires Alternative projects, and leads the System Reliability Procurement Plan in Rhode Island. Outside of work, he enjoys do-it-yourself projects, hiking, and playing tennis on warm sunny days.
