ULME Web Discussion:  Behavioral Demand Response

Wednesday, August 26, 2020, ONLINE, 2:00-4:00 pm Eastern
Utilities Only

Utility companies across the nation are looking for creative ways to slow the growth in energy consumption, support customer cost savings, and transform customer experiences. First, learn how Maryland’s largest utility is using gamification and a spin-off of a classic Smart Energy Savings program to do this! Baltimore Gas & Electric (BGE) worked with Oracle (formerly OPower) on an opt-out behavioral DR program. Come learn why BGE is implementing changes in this early-to-the-market program and how they tried out some interesting gamification and peak-time-rewards ideas.   Then hear from Consumers Energy, Michigan’s largest combination utility, how it is growing its Demand Response programs to help advance a clean energy future for the state.  By 2040, the company plans to achieve net zero carbon emissions and meet 90 percent of Michigan’s energy needs with clean resources. Learn how the company has evolved its Behavioral Demand Response offerings to increase monthly enrollment rates three-fold and drop unenrollment rates by ~70 percent since 2018.

The connection link will be sent to verified utility registrants.  This webinar will not be recorded.

The Utility Load Management Exchange's (ULME's) mission is to promote load control as a viable option for utility deployments in demand reduction, economic dispatch, and/or T&D reliability through a forum for utility staff members to share information on program design, marketing, vendor management, benefit-costs and technology deployments. Learn more about the structure and governance of ULME here.
