The Position
Advanced Reporting to the Vice President of Power Resources, the Senior Data Analyst collaborates with, performs business and data analysis for, and provides assistance to the Power Resources and Access Department staff and other business units. Uses statistical tools, probability theory, statistical modeling, data visualization, predicative analytics, and other data analysis techniques to monitor, analyze, forecast, provide insights and report on members’ electricity demands and characteristics, supply, Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), and options to effectively meet members’ electricity interaction needs and expectations.

Responsibilities

  1. Supports the strategic goals of NHEC by assisting in the process of achieving Balanced Scorecard objectives and strategic initiatives.
  2. Supports the cultural goals of NHEC by exhibiting self-leadership, developing, and maintaining effective working relationships within the department, across other areas of NHEC and with external partners, consultants, and vendors, having a results orientation, being innovative, and seeking feedback.
  3. Identifies, evaluates business challenges and opportunities related to members’ electricity demands and both member-supplied and NHEC-supplied electricity supply and demand resources.
  4. Responsible for maintenance and integrity of department and corporate data, files, and databases. Designs and maintains data systems and databases. Creates and manages data backups and restorations.
  5. Organizes and conducts business analysis requirements gathering sessions. Defines and documents the scope of work, a detailed requirements definition, and implementation processes.
  6. Provides data library references by writing and maintaining user documentation.
  7. Increases professional and technical knowledge by attending educational classes, conferences, reading professional magazines, and participating in professional societies in areas of electricity demand and resources and other related areas.
  8. Keeps informed of regional power markets, resources, renewable energy and transmission issues, plans, activities, developments, events, and trends which may affect or be of interest to NHEC based on analysis and working knowledge of NHEC’s members’, demands, resources and transmission service requirements. A working knowledge of ISO-New England terminology, processes, procedures, and practices is a plus.
  9. Assist with the maintenance of power resources, transmission and access cost, and quantity historical and forecast data. Proposes solutions to more effectively process and store historical and forecast data.
  10. Assists with the provision of information and analysis for developing power and demand resources, and regional access rates by maintaining current information, and keeping forecast data current, by Revised May 2022 staying abreast of information, and news that could impact power and regional access costs. Also, assists with development of long–term and short-term forecasts and budget information relative to the department’s areas of responsibility.
  11. Ensures adherence to NHEC’s and the department’s risk management policies, procedures, and practices. Assists in the development and implementation of meaningful risk management procedures and processes related to the department’s functions.
  12. Provides analysis and advice as requested or required in relation to the department’s own functions and as may be needed in relation to other areas of the business.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.
